Started out the day with the plan that I would be helping out a neighbor of my host family with his web site for a few hours (9am to noon). I was on the phone with tech support changing his hosting plan (to one which would support a WordPress web site) which took more than half an hour. Then we had to wait another hour or so for those changes to take effect. Then the frustrating part really started. The most time consuming part of any new web site is getting just the right template. You have to find one that not only looks right, but is capable of being altered in such a way for it to do what you need it to do. We kept hitting our heads against the wall trying to get free templates to work. We finally gave up and purchased one I was familiar with and was sure I could get to work the way he wanted.
Once he purchased that, and I installed it, I was able to create the web site he wanted (still time consuming, but not nearly as frustrating) without too much more trouble. Long story short (too late!) I spent most of the day and evening building his new web site, but I think it turned out rather well. Feel free to tell me if you think so (or not). There are still a few empty pages, but those should be filled with content in the next week or so.
